For Muslims, the month of Ramadan begins on March 10th.
The Ramadan period in 2024 is from March 10th (Sunday) to April 10th (Wednesday).
During this month of Ramadan, it is famous that we do not eat or drink, including water, from late at night until sunset, but through hunger and patience we learn to understand the position of the poor, cultivate humility and self-control, and strengthen our own faith. It's a month spent with the purpose of deepening your knowledge.
Iftar, the meal eaten after sunset, imitates Muhammad's custom of first eating water (sometimes drinking sweet juices that raise blood sugar levels) and dates, then completing the day's fast after prayers after sunset. It seems that many families have a full-fledged dinner while appreciating each other.
We share it not only with family and friends, but also with strangers such as passersby and neighbors.
It looks like a party when people set up their desks and start eating after sunset.
After Ramadan ends, a grand festival called ``Eid al-Fitr'' is held for about three days, and people celebrate by eating and drinking with family and friends.
